Schmetz overlocker needles are great for safety stitches and cover stitches. Due to their superior quality and durability, these needles offer consistent sewing and prevent cloth bunching or skipped stitches.
There is a distinct difference between normal sewing machine needles and overlocker / serger needles. The construction of the overlocker needle is different, and it makes for a smoother sewing experience.
Here’s how overlocker needles are different from home sewing needles (130/705 H):
- Schmetz overlocker needles have a groove on the front and back sides of the blade to reduce skipped stitches. The second long groove is necessary to create chain stitches like overlock or coverlock stitches.
- ELx705 has increased strength due to a reinforced blade leading to less needle breakage and straighter stitches.
- ELx705 has a slightly rounded point for universal use.
Regular point available in sizes 80/12 and 90/14.
