Ballpoint needles for sewing machines are commonly used for sewing on knits such as cotton knits, interlock rib knits, fleece, double knit and most knit fabrics. The rounded tip allows the needle to pass between the fabric threads by gently separating them. This prevents broken fibers and the attendant unraveling.
Do not use a regular point needle on knit fabric. This will result in skipped stitches and fabric damage, causing it to curl.
