FixnSew Terms & Conditions

FixnSew is a sub-division of Creative Notions and service and repair all brands domestic and industrial sewing and embroidery machines and overlockers.
Machines can be dropped off and collected at Creative Notions.

  1. We make use of in house and outsourced technicians.
  2. Outsourced technicians are located within the Hermanus area.
  1. Inspection charges are applicable when you have instructed FixnSew to assess the machine(s), which by necessity requires certain services to be performed by us for the purposes of assessing the fault/damage in order to provide you with a quotation for the costs of service and/or repairs to the machine(s).
  2. The initial inspection and quotation costs R380.
  3. Should the machine be irreparable, the inspection fee is still payable.
  4. However, should the damage be repairable, the inspection fee is refundable.
  5. Should the customer be willing to donate the machine for parts, the inspection fee will be waived.

Walk-In Option

  1. Machines can be checked in anytime during office hours.
  2. During check-in, an online form will be required to be completed.
  3. In order to stay organized, and streamline operations, we have a queuing system.
  4. Once the form has been completed, the machine will be queued.
  5. A walk-in option will take between 5-7 business days, depending on the queue.

Priority Booking

  1. The option exists for urgent jobs to be escalated to the front of the queue for an additional fee of R250. This is called a priority booking.
  2. The machine will jump the queue and be ready within 2 business days.
  3. The same process applies as with the walk-in option.
  4. Please note that the priority booking only applies to machine services, not repairs.
  1. In order to stay organized, and streamline operations, we have a queuing system.
  2. Depending on the queue, a normal service takes between 5-7 business days. Although it takes approximately 3 hours to service a machine, once you’ve checked your machine in, it becomes part of our queuing system.
  3. Priority booked machines’ turnaround time is 2 business days.
  4. Please note that service/repair timelines and delivery dates are estimates only and dependent on availability of technicians, parts, tooling, equipment, capacity etc.
  5. FixnSew and its technicians will endeavour to meet the promised return dates, but shall not guarantee delivery times in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
  1. A service costs R690 for a mechanical domestic sewing machine. For additional costs, please see the chart below.
  2. It shall be applicable to all warranty, out of warranty and non-warranty goods (meaning the warranty has been voided or has expired).
  3. Service charges will be calculated according to:
    1. the inspection of the machine;
    2. labour;
    3. travel expense, calculated using AA rates (if applicable);
    4. accommodation (should call out be outside of the workshop area) and
    5. spare parts on machines out of warranty or non-warranty machines (if applicable)
  4. FixnSew represents and warrants that all services and repairs shall be performed by competent personnel, with professional diligence and skill, consistent with industry standards.
  5. Save aforesaid and as provided in terms of this clause, FixnSew shall not be liable for any defects in goods delivered or for any injury, damage or loss whatsoever resulting directly or indirectly from such defects, or from any work done in connection therewith.

Standard cleaning fees are included with the service of all machines. However, should the machine be received in an excessively unclean manner, the customer will be responsible for an additional cleaning charge of R250.

  1. A quote will be provided for acceptance prior to any repair work being undertaken. Quotations shall be provided via Whatsapp, SMS, email or written (in the case of walk-in customers).
  2. The quote is an estimate, which may change if the repair is unsuccessful, or if additional parts are required. FixnSew reserves the right to re-quote on the repair, should it become necessary.
  3. Repairs will only be undertaken on receipt of acceptance of a quotation.
  4. Payment must only be effected after the final repair charge is confirmed and communicated. Customers will be liable for the difference in charge, should a payment be made against a quotation.
  5. FixnSew shall not accept cancellations after receiving the acceptance of a quotation. The customer shall be liable for the full repair charges before the goods are released.
  6. Repair quotes are valid for a period 5 (five) working days. Failure to respond within this period shall result in:
    • the goods being returned unrepaired, and only upon payment of the applicable service charges set out above.
    • rendering the quote null and void.
  7. Should the customer request or re-book the goods to be repaired after quote expiry, it will have to be re-assessed with the service charges being applicable again. Quotes and assessment outcomes are subject to change after re-assessment.
  1. Machines may be transported off premise to be services and/or repaired.
  2. Also, serviced machines sold on consignment will be displayed on Creative Notions’ shelves.
  3. Creative Notions (Pty) Ltd (of which FixnSew is a sub-division) shall not be held liable for any damage or loss whatsoever resulting directly or indirectly from theft, fire or any other damaging causes.
  4. It is therefore recommended that the customer takes out insurance for the period that the machine is in for repair/service and/or on the shelf in the case where it’s being sold on behalf of the customer.
  1. The customer might receive ad hoc status updates via Whatsapp when progress has been made.
  2. However, the responsibility rests on the customer to check in with FixnSew, should more regular updates be needed.
  1. All services/repairs, have a three (3) month warranty. This includes parts, but excludes faults or errors as a result of timing and tension.
  1. Payment can be made upon notification of the service and/or repair being completed.
  2. Serviced/repaired goods pending payment shall not be released without confirmation of payment.
  3. FixnSew reserves the right to dispose goods to defray expenses, if not claimed and/or if charges remain unpaid within three (3) months (90 days) after service and/or repair.
  1. In repairing your machine(s) under its warranty, FixnSew may use new, used or reconditioned parts, as permitted by the terms of such warranty or extended service contract.
  2. If repairing parts outside of the warranty or extended service contract, FixnSew may use new, used or reconditioned parts.
  3. FixnSew will keep any replaced part as its property, and the replacement part will be your property. Replaced parts may be repairable and exchanged or repaired by FixnSew for value.
  4. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you hereby waive any right you may have to receive any replaced parts. If applicable law requires FixnSew to return a replaced part to you, you agree to pay FixnSew the additional cost of the replacement item.
  1. Customers should be considerate of the fact that Creative Notions have limited storage space. Creative Notions would like to keep the shop tidy and well-functioned, and would appreciate the customer collecting the machine as soon as he/she received notification that the machine is ready for collection.
  2. Should there be any reason for not collecting your machine, customers are urged to make arrangements with FixnSew.
  3. Unless arrangements have been made, storage fees at the rate of R25 per day will unfortunately be applicable on top of your machine service/repair amount due and payable on collection which have not been collected after two weeks.
